Lakeview Hotel REIT has established a three member board of Trustees which is responsible for supervising the activities and managing the affairs of Lakeview Hotel REIT. To avoid any potential conflicts of interest and to ensure that there is an alignment of interests between the Trustees and the REIT, two-thirds of the Trustees must be independent from the management of the REIT.
Keith Levit - Trustee and President
Keith Levit joined Lakeview Management Inc. in 1983 and has been the President of Lakeview since 1997. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Manitoba and a Masters degree in Real Estate and Regional Sciences from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Levit established a global presence for Lakeview, opening offices in Hong Kong and Taiwan and an agent base covering Europe and Asia. Mr. Levit successfully brought together a pool of more than one thousand investors from around the world, raising more than $150 million. Keith Levit currently leads a group of hotel professionals in the expansion of Lakeview hotels across Canada.
Gary Coleman - Independent Trustee
From 1991 to 1997 Mr. Coleman was President of South East Transportation Systems Inc. South East Transportation Systems Inc. amalgamated with Big Freight Systems Inc. on January 1, 1997 and Mr. Coleman continues to be the CEO and Chairman of the amalgamated company, Big Freight Systems Inc. Mr. Coleman was the President, Chairman and a director of Global Fortress Inc. from May 25, 2000 until a Plan of Arrangement was carried out between Global Fortress Inc. and Lakeview Hotel REIT in April, 2004.
Oliver Plett - Independent Trustee
Until 2000, Mr. Plett was Secretary of Westfield Industries Ltd., a substantial manufacturing operation based in Rosenort, Manitoba. In addition to his responsibilities as Secretary, Mr. Plett had direct responsibility for the company’s finances and related issues. Mr. Plett sat on the board of directors of Emerging Africa Gold (EAG) Inc., an Exchange listed company, from December, 1998 until May, 2002, when the company merged with Diagem International Resource Corp. Mr. Plett has a variety of other business interests as well. Mr. Plett was a director and Sectrary of Global Fortress Inc. from July, 2002 until a Plan of Arrangement was carried out between Global Fortress Inc. and Lakeview Hotel REIT in April, 2004.
