The Lakeview Inn & Suites Edson was acquired by Lakeview Hotel REIT in April, 2006 and was converted from a Super 8 to a Lakeview Inn & Suites upon acquisition. This 45 room two-storey, limited service facility which opened in 1996 features a well appointed continental breakfast room and a guest laundry. Infrastructure is in place to facilitate an expansion of approximately 20 rooms. Edson is located strategically on Highway 16 (the Yellowhead) approximately half way between Edmonton and Jasper. The property occupies the best commercial location in Edson, located at the point where Highway 16 splits into a Y as it enters Edson from the east. The economy of Edson is based on natural resources which are undergoing an unprecedented boom. Several major projects are underway in the region related to the storage and processing of coal and natural gas.
